The Key to Evangelism is Prayer

It’s School of Prayer Saturday. I hope you looked at my post, yesterday, as I posted my new prayer guide. I have a real burden to pray for our youth in America, because we are reaching so few of them. Only 15% of the Millennial Generation have any type of spirituality at all. Perhaps the church has lost it’s power to reach this generation because of our lack of prayer. I have been doing Prayer in Every City since April and have not been very successful in uniting churches to pray together. When the revival broke out in Australia in the early 1900’s, one woman had organized over 1700 prayer groups. I can’t imagine how she did this, because I cannot unite 20 churches in prayer. As a result of this revival, over 8000 people were saved. If we could begin to have revivals like this all over America, we could revolutionize our society.

According to Oswald Chambers, “The key to the missionary’s difficult task is in the hand of God, and that key is prayer, not work – that is, not work as the word is commonly used today, which often results in the shifting of our focus away from God” (October 16 devotion).

Evangelism is not effective without prayer and work is not effective without the Lord’s guidance. If we want a revival, it must be prayed in. Would you please form a prayer group and begin to pray for revival and spiritual awakening for America?

  1. I agree however I also think that God has hardened hearts of Americans and what the scripture says in 2 Timothy about the last days ‘they will be lovers of self, unholy, boastful, proud’ is coming to fruition
    The general public isn’t concerned for anyone but themselves much less what God thinks. We continue to pray but ultimately I think we are living in the last days and God’s prophecies are coming true.

    • I agree we are living in the last days, but here is a prophecy of the end times:
      ‘And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God,
      That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh;
      Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
      Your young men shall see visions,
      Your old men shall dream dreams.
      18 And on My menservants and on My maidservants
      I will pour out My Spirit in those days;
      And they shall prophesy. Acts 2:17-18 (NKJV)

      No matter what time we are living in, God can still pour out his Spirit.

    Amen! Evangelism begins with Spirit-filled prayers.
