Purpose of Prayer in Every City

The Lord called me to start this ministry in April, 2013. I have known for many years that the Lord wanted me to do some type of ministry, but I was not sure what it was. I have taught Precept Bible Studies for about 8 years as well as classes on prayer and evangelism, but I have known all along that the Lord had something more for me. Finally after 8 years of searching, the Lord has called me to this ministry. I had wanted to do a website before, but I do not have the knowledge to design a webpage. Praise the Lord for blogs, because you don’t have to know HTML to set one up.

I have enjoyed updating my blog almost every day since April, but it is not the sole purpose of my ministry. My desire is to see people praying for Revival and Spiritual Awakening. This blog is designed to teach you how to pray for Revival and Spiritual Awakening so you can form your own prayer groups. Reverend Billy Graham used to have many prayer groups praying before his revival meetings as well as the famed R.A.Torrey. Charles Finney would also arrange prayer groups in the cities he preached in. Charles Spurgeon had people praying in the boiler room of the churches where he preached. The reason we don’t see the power of the Holy Spirit move as He did for these great preachers is because we are not praying like their churches prayed. We can gather big crowds by entertaining them with music, but we cannot manufacture the power of the Holy Spirit. This can only come through repentance, holiness and prayer.

I hope to one day see prayer groups praying for Revival and Spiritual Awakening in every city in America. My first goal is 1,200 prayer groups. I would also like to see church hubs formed where area churches meet together to pray once a quarter. I base this type of united prayer on the following verse from Jesus’ High Priestly prayer in John 17, “I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me” John 17:20-21 (NKJV). In this verse Jesus said that the world would believe that Jesus was sent by God because of the unity of the church. This Biblical church is one body of believers made up of many churches. The churches in America need to realize that it is not about them. We are not in competition over members or numbers. We need to unite together in prayer and pray for America.

I do not ask for donations for this ministry so I am not asking you for money. I have offered all of my materials for free on my blog. All that is needed for a prayer group is people to pray and a free Prayer in Every City prayer guide. This guide is designed to help you pray for America. You don’t have to use the prayer guide, but I have found over the years that a prayer guide keeps the prayers focused and it also helps those who don’t know what to pray. You can find a copy of the prayer guide by clicking on “Prayer Guide” in the menu bar at the top of the page. America is at a crossroads and politicians are not going to solve our problems. If you want society to change, then Jesus Christ is the only one who can change it. This all begins with prayer. Jesus said, “My house shall be called a house of prayer for all the nations” Mark 11:17 (NASB). Is your church a Biblical model of a church? Is it a house of prayer for all the nations?
