Blood Moon – October 8, 2014

blood moonIt is almost time for the 2nd Blood Moon to make it’s appearance on October 8, 2014. If you live in the Western part of the United States, you will have a better view than those who live in the East. The  blood moon will not be visible in Israel or the Middle East.

The full eclipse times on morning October 8 according to NASA. YOU WILL NEED TO SET YOUR ALARM TUESDAY NIGHT!
6:25 am – 7:24 am EST
5:25 am – 6:24 am CST
4:25 am – 5:24 am MST
3:25 am  – 4:24 am PST

This eclipse will appear larger than the previous blood moon because it will occur after the perigee, the place in the orbit of the moon when it is closest to the earth.

Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot) and Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur)
The Jews just celebrated Yom Kippur, which is also called the Day of Atonement. This is the one time of the year when the High Priest would enter the Holy of Holies in the temple to make sacrifices for the entire nation of Israel. There have been no temple sacrifices since the temple was destroyed in 70 A.D. by the Romans. I was hoping to write post about Yom Kippur, but did not get around to it this past weekend.

The next Jewish holiday is the Feast of Tabernacles or Sukkot which begins Oct. 8th at sundown. Take note that the blood moon occurs on the morning of the 8th, but the feast begins at sundown that evening. This will be the day of the blood moon as well as a time to make a booth and live outdoors for a week. This feast is described in Lev. 23.

“Now on the first day you shall take for yourselves the foliage of beautiful trees, palm branches and boughs of leafy trees and willows of the brook, and you shall rejoice before the LORD your God for seven days. You shall thus celebrate it as a feast to the LORD for seven days in the year. It shall be a perpetual statute throughout your generations; you shall celebrate it in the seventh month. You shall live in booths for seven days; all the native-born in Israel shall live in booths, so that your generations may know that I had the sons of Israel live in booths when I brought them out from the land of Egypt. I am the LORD your God.” Leviticus 23:40-43 (NASB).

I do not have a picture of a booth, but you may go to google images and type in Feast of Tabernacles to see some of the booths people have constructed to live in for one week. You cannot get more authentic than viewing the blood moon from your very own Feast of Tabernacles booth. However, I will not live in a booth or sleep outside for this event. I will set my alarm to hopefully catch a glimpse of the blood moon before the sun rises too much to see it.

  1. Did u see the moon?

  2. Ever since the blood moon, I’ve noticed a full clear moon each night after and still there in the morning! I pray and ask God what is He telling us. I feel He is preparing those who notice His signs.
