Memorial Day Prayer
Lord, we come before you as our Creator and the author of freedom. We thank you for establishing this great nation as “One Nation Under God”. On this special day of the year we remember those who have given their lives so that we might have freedom. We pray for the families of those who have given the ultimate sacrifice so that we may enjoy liberty and freedom in America. “Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted” Matt 5:4 (KJV). We also pray for those soldiers who have been wounded in battle. Many suffer from lifelong injuries, which will hinder their day to day activities. Some of these injuries are physical, but some of these injuries are psychological. We pray for their healing and the salvation of those who don’t know Jesus Christ.
We also want to pray for the men and women who are currently serving our country. Some of them are in the military, but we also have police officers and firemen who fight at home for our safety. Please give these men and women courage when in danger, wisdom to know how to handle difficult situations, and protection from our enemies. Help them to remember to “Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go” Josh 1:9 (NASB).
We also pray for revival and spiritual awakening for our nation. Please do not remove your hand from America. We see the judgments that you are placing upon us to get us to return to following you. We pray for mercy and not judgment. Prayer in Every City would like to stand in the gap for America. Forgive us, Lord. In Jesus Name, Amen.
I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none” Ezek 22:30 (KJV). Will you be willing to stand in the gap for America?
