Avoid Temptation Tuesday – Lack of Prayer
It’s Avoid Temptation Tuesday! Once a week at least I like to take the time to focus on my life and see if there is any sin in my life which I should confess to the Lord. Many people feel this is unnecessary, but they have never tried it. Even if they did try it, their unbelief would hinder them from seeing the benefits. You cannot walk in the Spirit as described in Galatians 5 with unconfessed sin in your life.
I have been really burdened for our teens and 20-somethings this week. Only 15% of the millennial generation (born between 1980-2000) are saved and 73% of our teens will leave the church before or during college. I feel like this is my fault. My generation has been too busy focused on making money and entertainment to insure that sound Christian beliefs are passed down to the next generation. Lack of prayer has caused us to walk in the flesh rather than the Spirit. When the church fails to pray then the power of the Holy Spirit is absent from our services. We as a church are operating in our own power rather than in the power of the Holy Spirit. The Great Spiritual Awakenings in America happened as a result of intense, united prayer and powerful, Spirit filled preaching. I believe our churches can be revived if enough people will pray.
Please consider forming a Prayer in Every City prayer group and pray for our nation’s youth this week. There is power in united prayer.
I agree, I definitely need to work on how much/how I pray.
