How to Pray for the Churches in America According to Revelation 2-3

Have you ever taken the scripture and turned it into a prayer to the Lord? It is powerful to pray scripture and we know if we pray the scriptures to the Lord, we are praying according to His will. Many times when I am praying for revival and spiritual awakening for America I like to use the 7 churches of Revelation as an outline. I have done this for you to show you how it can be done.

Church of Ephesus
We thank You, Lord, that You recognize those who work and labor for You. We thank You that there are believers in America who cannot bear those who are evil. We pray, Lord, that all churches will test their teachers to see if they are false prophets. Please do not allow the people in America to be deceived by these false prophets. Please forgive the churches in America who have lost their first love. Our churches have become self-focused rather than Godly-focused. Help us to hate what You hate. Give us ears to hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches. In Christ’s Name, Amen.

Church of Smyrna
We thank You, Lord, that You are the First and the Last, and that You rose from the dead for our salvation. We pray for the persecuted church all over the world. They labor for You even though they suffer tribulation and poverty. Help them to realize that they are rich and give them boldness and courage to fear the persecution. Make them strong and help them to be faithful even if it means death. Help strengthen believers in America so that we can endure this type of suffering if it ever comes to America. Please give us ears to hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches. In Christ’s Name, Amen.

Church of Pergamos
We thank You, Lord, because You have the sharp two-edged sword. Help us to realize that our sharp two-edged sword is You and Your Word. Strengthen us spiritually so we will never deny our faith in the evil day. Help us to study Your Word so we will not be deceived by false prophets. Open our eyes so we can recognize false teaching when we hear it. Please keep sexual immorality out of the church including pornography, adultery, fornication and homosexuality. Help church members to realize that their bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit and they must treat their bodies as Holy. Help the church in America to repent and humble themselves before You. Give us ears to hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches. In Christ’s Name, Amen.

Church of Thyatira
We praise You Lord for who You are. We thank You that some of the church in America have works of love, service, faith, and patience. Please keep our church leaders and teachers sexually pure. Don’t allow our church members to be deceived by teachers who would seduce our members sexually. Help us to repent of our sins and to hold fast until Your coming. Help us overcome and continue to do Your works until the end because You promise to give us power over the nations. Give us ears to hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches. In Christ’s Name, Amen.

Church of Sardis
Please forgive the churches in America who say they are alive, but are dead. Open up their eyes so they can see themselves through Your Holy Eyes. Help them to be watchful and strengthen themselves spiritually. We thank You that not all churches members have defiled their garments and that there is a faithful remnant among them. Please give them ears to hear what the Spirit is trying to say to them. In Christ’s Name, Amen.

Church of Philadelphia
We thank you, Lord, that You are Holy and true. Please open up doors in our churches that no one can shut. Give us strength to walk worthy of Your calling. Help us to keep Your commandments and to persevere even if persecution arises. Please give them ears to hear what the Spirit is trying to say to the churches in America. In Christ’s Name, Amen.

Church of Laodicea
We thank You, Lord, that You are the Amen, the Faithful, the True Witness and the Beginning of the creation of God. Please forgive our churches in America which are lukewarm. This may be an entire church or individuals in any church. Please forgive us in America because we are rich and have allowed our wealth to make us lazy and complacent. Open our eyes so we can see that we are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked. Open our eyes that we may see and refine us with Your fire and make us ashamed of our sin. Help us to open our doors to You and to be willing to listen to the Holy Spirit. Some of our churches need to acknowledge that there is a Holy Spirit who still operates in the hearts of believers today. Help us to hear Your voice and be overcomers. In Christ’s Name, Amen.
