Drought, Wildfires and Tornadoes, Oh My!

If you live in the South, you have seen some severe weather situations over the past 2 months. We have suffered a two month drought, which has led to wildfires in Georgia, North Carolina and Tennessee. Yesterday Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge and Sevierville were almost destroyed by wildfires. At least we have had rain the past two days to help douse the fires, but the rain caused tornado in Georgia. Tornadoes are not very common in December.

Who controls the weather?
Many of the global warming advocates believe that these strange weather patterns are a result of a warming effect on the earth. They believe that weather is controlled by nature, but the Bible says otherwise. Please read my article, “Who Controls the Weather?” for a biblical understanding on weather. According to the Bible, God controls the weather.

According to the Old Testament, severe weather happens as a result of God’s judgment. Even though many are pleased that God answered their prayers for the election, we are still seeing signs of judgment in America. We cannot become complacent over the sin in America, even if we have seen answered prayer. Please read Amos 6 to see God’s warning over complacency.

The only way to get America on the right track again is through revival and spiritual awakening. Many in the church are slumbering as their neighbors slip into a Godless eternity in hell. We need to awaken and begin to share our faith.

Please pray for our nation to return to God. Below are 10 Prayers for a Nation. Notice that when the Old Testament saints prayed for the nation of Israel, they always confessed the sins of the nation. Please begin your prayer by confessing your own sin and the sins of the nation. May Sin List from A-Z will help you to do this. Remember to keep the residents of Sevier County in your prayers over the loss of businesses and homes. I used to live there so I have a special place in my heart for those who are suffering.
