With the recent death of one of our most conservative Supreme Court Justices, Antonin Scalia, the foundation of our nation is at risk. This reminds me of the verse, “If the foundations are destroyed, What can the righteous do?” Psalm 11:3 (NKJV).  The righteous can fast and pray for America. The Lord could have prevented Scalia’s death until after the election, but he did not. If a liberal judge is allowed to replace him, then Christians will never be able to win at the Supreme Court again.

When the prophets in the Old Testament prayed for a sinful nation, they fasted and confessed the sins of the nation. When Esther prepared to save her people, she asked for all the Jews to fast and pray. When the people of Nineveh learned about God’s judgment from the prophet Jonah, they declared a day of prayer and fasting. When Daniel interceded for Israel, he fasted for 21 days.

I recommend that every Christian set aside a day to fast for our nation. If you look at my Prayer in Every City Home Page, you can find several posts on fasting.
