Charles Trumbull – Quote
I have been reading Charles Trumbull’s book, Victory in Christ, which I recommend anyone praying for Revival and Spiritual Awakening to read. Charles was the editor of The Sunday School Times in the early 1900’s. Many people don’t understand the concept of revival in the life of a believer. Revival happens when a believer in Jesus Christ remembers his/her first love as described in Revelation 2:4-5.
“I know your deeds and your toil and perseverance, and that you cannot tolerate evil men, and you put to the test those who call themselves apostles, and they are not, and you found them to be false; and you have perseverance and have endured for My name’s sake, and have not grown weary. ‘But I have this against you, that you have left your first love.‘Therefore remember from where you have fallen, and repent and do the deeds you did at first; or else I am coming to you and will remove your lampstand out of its place—unless you repent” Revelation 2:4-5 (NASB).
Many Christians are doing great works for the Lord. Unfortunately, they are doing these works in their own strength, rather than in the strength and power of the Holy Spirit. They have left their first love. Charles Trumbull teaches the path of surrender in this book. If you are missing the love, joy and peace in your life and your evangelistic opportunities seem dry or nonexistent, then remember your first love. Discover the Victorious Christian Life
Henry Blackaby summarizes the Victorious Christian Life in the foreword of this book.
1. “full surrender of self and self-effort to God and to His working alone by grace as totally sufficient”
2. “total faith and trust in God to do all He has promised” (Multnomah Publishers. 2005 pp. 7-8).
I hope you will decide that you desire revival in your heart right now. There is no need to wait for the next great awakening. Begin by confessing all your known sins to the Lord, make restitution to anyone you have sinned against and fully surrender to the Lord. This sin list will help you to do this: Sin List from A-Z You will then discover the victorious Christian life described in this book.
