Break Up the Fallow Ground – Hosea 10:12

Fallow Ground is Ground That Has Not Been Plowed

Fallow Ground is Ground That Has Not Been Plowed

It’s Memory Verse Monday! I have been praying for America more than usual lately. We have so many problems facing our nation, it seems that there is no solution to them all. Divorce is high, violence is high, threats from around the world are high and the list goes on and on. However, if we only pray for these types of things, we are only praying for the symptoms of America’s problems. America’s problem is that we have left our first love (Rev. 2:4). If we want real change in America, we must pray for the root of the problem. We need Revival in our churches and Spiritual Awakening in our nation.

The following verse was a popular verse among revival preachers during the First and Second Great Awakenings. We must break up the fallow ground of people’s hearts through much prayer and revival style preaching. We also need to learn to seek the Lord in prayer. When we pray, we must not do all the talking. We must learn to ask God questions in prayer, then sit in silence and wait for an answer. Remember seeking = listening.

Memory Verse

Sow for yourselves righteousness; Reap in mercy; Break up your fallow ground, For it is time to seek the LORD, Till He comes and rains righteousness on you. Hosea 10:12 (NKJV)

  1. Thank you for the reminder to listen to the Lord and not doing all the talking.
I admit I’ve become discouraged in praying for America. I just see no change.

  2. I also found this verse in Jeremiah 4:3 this morning. I will pray that believers in Christ will plow up our ground.
