Prayer for God’s Judgment on America

I found an interesting Bible verse that I would like to share with you.

“Have you entered the treasury of snow, Or have you seen the treasury of hail,
Which I have reserved for the time of trouble, For the day of battle and war” (Job 38:22-23 NKJV)?

We have had a very cold winter in the United States, which some have said is the coldest winter on record. Many states have been crippled by the large amount of snow which has fallen. When I see disastrous weather patterns, I like to look in the Old Testament to see what types of weather God used for judgment. According to this verse in Job, God stores up snow and hail to be used in times of trouble, battle and war. I believe the extreme cold weather we are experiencing this year is judgment from God for our gross sins we are committing in America. According to the Old Testament, God will send extreme weather to try to get our attention.

Here is another verse, which may be more familiar to you:

“When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people, if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land” 2 Chronicles 7:13-15 (NKJV).

According to this verse, God sends drought and disease to get our attention. As many states have battled extreme amounts of snow, California, on the other hand, has seen extreme drought. California produces nearly half the produce, fruits and nuts consumed in the country, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. It is the nation’s top agriculture-producing state, according to the USDA. Our nation’s food supply will suffer as a result of tis drought. Let’s stand in the gap for our nation.

Lord, we praise you because you are Jehovah-Jireh, our provider. You also call yourself Jehovah-Nissi, our banner. You are our refuge, our fortress and our God and we put our trust in You. We pray, Father, that You will forgive our nation for turning against You. We have fallen far from Your precepts. Many in America mock You, use Your name in vain and worship creation rather than their creator. Please forgive us for these sins. We would like to stand in the gap for those who are righteous in America. The righteous are suffering through Your judgments because you are trying to revive Your church. Please prepare us for Jesus’ return. If Jesus returned tomorrow, Your church in America is not prepared. Please wake us up, Lord, before it is too late. Please remove Your judgment of snow and drought from our nation. We pray You will send rain where it is needed and warmth for the cold weary. Please send a Great Awakening to this nation. In Christ’s Name, Amen.
