Prayer for Revival of Teens in America
The snow and ice is beautiful outside. My kids and I decided that the ice was the perfect consistency for a snow cone so we made Lemonade Snow Cones today. It’s not everyday you can have a snow cone made in heaven. As I have been sitting around my house, I decided to search the Old Testament for intercessory prayers. I found some interesting verses which apply to the youth. Many times we like to think of our youth as sweet and innocent, but that is very rarely the case. If you have a teen or two in your house, you know that they can be defiant, talk back to their parents, liars or even sneaky to name a few. I have also looked up verses on snow today, as America seems to be having the coldest winter on record. The Bible has some interesting verses on snow that we will take a look at as well.
Let’s begin with the snow and ice verses as over half of America probably has snow or ice on the ground right now. It appears that God causes the snow and ice storms and not global warming or mother nature.
From whose womb comes the ice? And the frost of heaven, who gives it birth? 30 The waters harden like stone, And the surface of the deep is frozen. Job 38:29-30 (NKJV)
Have you entered the treasury of snow, Or have you seen the treasury of hail, 23 Which I have reserved for the time of trouble, For the day of battle and war? Job 38:22-23 (NKJV)
The last two verses above are interesting because God says he reserves snow and hail for the time of trouble. I believe that God is pouring out His wrath on America and has been for some time. We have seen record strength tornadoes, hurricanes, snow storms, floods and drought over the past 2 years.
What did God have to say about the youth in Israel in the book of Isaiah? I don’t believe God thought they were sweet and innocent. Let’s take a look:
For the people do not turn to Him who strikes them, Nor do they seek the LORD of hosts. 14 Therefore the LORD will cut off head and tail from Israel, Palm branch and bulrush in one day. The elder and honorable, he is the head; The prophet who teaches lies, he is the tail. For the leaders of this people cause them to err, And those who are led by them are destroyed. Therefore the LORD will have no joy in their young men, Nor have mercy on their fatherless and widows; For everyone is a hypocrite and an evildoer, And every mouth speaks folly. For all this His anger is not turned away, But His hand is stretched out still. Isaiah 9:13-17 (NKJV)
The Lord was not happy with the young men in Israel nor the orphans and the widows because everyone was a hypocrite and an evildoer. This is a major problem in America. Many of our teens are committing fornication, addicted to drugs and alcohol, some are murderers, thieves and so on. If we are to pray for revival among our teens, then we need to confess the sins of the teens to the Lord. The Bible says that people who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of heaven. Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions (quarrels), heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries (riots), and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. Galatians 5:19-21 (NKJV)
Did you know that the word sorcery in this verse means witchcraft and illegal drug use? How many teens today read Harry Potter and Twilight, which are about witchcraft? The Bible warns many times to stay away from witchcraft. Now in light of what we have learned about the sins of our youth, let’s say a prayer for the Millennial Generation.
