Freedom Friday – Prayer for America

Prayer at flagpoleToday is Freedom Friday! America needs so much prayer that I hardly know where to begin. We have tornado weather in the midwest, blizzard weather in the north, tropical storms in the south and high winds in the west. Not to mention the government shutdown and our lawmakers who seem to only care about themselves. Why do you think we are having all this weird weather? Who controls the weather? According to the book of Job, God commands the weather. Let’s take a look at some of my favorite scripture on the majesty of God.

Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said:
2 “Who is this who darkens counsel By words without knowledge? 3 Now prepare yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer Me. 4 “Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding. 5 Who determined its measurements? Surely you know!Or who stretched the line upon it? 6 To what were its foundations fastened?
Or who laid its cornerstone,7 When the morning stars sang together,And all the sons of God shouted for joy? 8 “Or who shut in the sea with doors,When it burst forth and issued from the womb;
9 When I made the clouds its garment, And thick darkness its swaddling band; 10 When I fixed My limit for it, And set bars and doors; 11 When I said, ‘This far you may come, but no farther,
And here your proud waves must stop!’ Job 38:1-11 (NKJV)

“Have you entered the treasury of snow, Or have you seen the treasury of hail, 3 Which I have reserved for the time of trouble,For the day of battle and war? Job 38:22-23 (NKJV)

God controls the weather and he uses weather as judgment in the Old Testament. He also causes calamity in cities.
But I will kindle a fire in the wall of Rabbah,
And it shall devour its palaces,
Amid shouting in the day of battle,
And a tempest in the day of the whirlwind. Amos 1:14 (NKJV)

If a trumpet is blown in a city, will not the people be afraid?
If there is calamity in a city, will not the LORD have done it?
7 Surely the Lord GOD does nothing,
Unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets. Amos 3:6-7 (NKJV)

The Lord is warning America, but are we listening?

Lord, please have mercy on America. Please forgive us because we have rejected Your prayer in our schools and Your laws in our courts. We have rejected your covenant of marriage by living together, divorce, and homosexuality. We have become a law unto ourselves. When you said that you were going to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah, Abraham pleaded for the righteous so we would like to plead for the righteous today. Lord, please don’t destroy our nation for the sake of your righteous. Even though many in America are evil, Lord, please spare us for the sake of the righteous. We pray that you will turn away this Tropical Storm Karen and that you will calm the winds in the Midwest. Please cause the fires to cease out west and control the snow up north. We pray, Lord, that you will convict the hearts of all our lawmakers so that they will make the right decisions for the future generations and quit making decisions that only satisfy them politically. We pray that you will give them all a compromising heart and not to use Americans who are out of work as pawns to get their agendas past. We pray for a revival among our youth and spiritual awakening across America. We realize that the hour of Christ’s return is fast approaching and Americans are not spiritually ready. Please forgive the church for being apathetic and failing to reach our younger generations for You. Please have mercy on us today. In Jesus Name, Amen.
