Prayer for School Administrators and Leaders – Throwback Thursday

DSC03318

A good friend of mine who teaches elementary school started a prayer group at her school just this past week. She had 25 teachers show up, which was far more than she had expected. She wrote this for her prayer group and has graciously allowed me to post it. I will post her prayer for students and teachers on Saturday. Please pray for all the schools in America today as our children go back to school.

Praise – begin by praising him for who he is.

Repentance – Confess and turn away from your sins.

Petition means to ask. God urges us to ask, and He is pleased when we do.

Intercession is praying for someone else. The Bible tells us that Jesus Christ constantly intercedes for us (see Romans 8:34), so it pleases God when we intercede for someone else—including heads of state and others in authority—because we are doing what Christ does.

Thanksgiving always pleases God, and the Bible specifically tells us to include thanksgiving when talking to God about those in authority.

For our County and School leaders:

“Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth” 1 Tim 2:1-4 (NKJV).

We are to pray with the clear understanding that government authority is established by God.  “Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king” 1 Peter 2:17 (NKJV). Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God. Romans 13:1 (NASB)

Help our leaders at ______________________ School to accept wise counsel. “Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counselors there is safety.”  (Proverbs 11:14; 15:22)

Give our leaders discretion, foresight, and understanding in making decisions. “Only may the LORD give you wisdom and understanding, and give you charge…” 1 Chron 22:12 (NKJV).

Protect our leaders from harm, and bless and protect their families. “But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one” 2 Thess 3:3 (NKJV).

Enable our leaders to carry out his/her duties with humility toward you and toward others. “Likewise you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders. Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for ‘God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble’” 1 Peter 5:5 (NKJV).

Give our leaders a tender heart of compassion toward those they lead and serve. “Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering” Col 3:12 (NKJV).
