Prayers for Coronavirus the Pandemic
Corona-virus has been declared a world pandemic so it is time to lift our prayers for our nation and world. As I reflect on how to best pray for this pandemic, I am reminded of 2 Chronicles 7:13-14. 2 Chronicles 7:14 is an often quoted verse for revival and spiritual awakening, but we often neglect to include verse 13 which tells us when to start praying for revival.
“If I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or if I command the locust to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among My people, 14 and My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land” 2 Chronicles 7:13-14 (NASB).
The Bible says to start humbling ourselves before God when we see drought, locusts and disease. We have seen all 3 of these happen around the globe over the past few months. Locusts are swarming in East Africa, Asia and the Middle East. Australia has experienced devastating wildfires because of drought. Now we have Corona-virus! It is past time to start praying for our nation and world
I am praying that people will wake up and realize we are living in the last days. So many are focused on vacations and entertainment with little time left over for God. We give Him our sloppy seconds rather than the first fruit. It is time to humble ourselves before God and seek His will over our own will.
Prayers are especially powerful when we follow the patterns of prayer in the Bible or use scripture. I like to use Nehemiah’s prayer, found in Nehemiah 1:4-11, as an outline. He begins with praise, confesses the sins of the nation, reminds God of His promises, and makes his request.
- Begin by praising the Lord “Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And all that is within me, bless His holy name.
2 Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And forget none of His benefits;
3 Who pardons all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases;
4 Who redeems your life from the pit,
Who crowns you with lovingkindness and compassion;
5 Who satisfies your [a]years with good things,
So that your youth is renewed like the eagle.”
Psalm 103:1-5 (NASB)
- Confess your own sins and the sins of the nation. Here is my Sin List from A-Z to help you with this.
- Remind God of His promisesRemind God that He promised to protect from the diseases of the Egyptians, so pray for protection against corona-virus“If you will give earnest heed to the voice of the Lord your God, and do what is right in His sight,
and give ear to His commandments, and keep all His statutes,
I will put none of the diseases on you which I have put on the Egyptians; for I, the Lord, am your healer.”
Exodus 15:26 (NASB)
- Pray for Your Requests
a. Ask the Lord to intervene and stop corona-virus pandemic as He did for King David when Israel suffered from a plague (1 Chronicles 21, 2 Samuel 24)b. Pray for peace in your heart with no anxiety or fear.
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” Philippians 4:6-7 (NASB).
c. Pray the Lord will bring about revival and awakening in the hearts of people and heal our land. (2 Chronicles 7:13-14, see above)d. Pray Psalm 91 over you and your family every day.
Have a Blessed Day!

I read your post now and found out that Islam and bible teaches us quite same stuff read my post too so that you could now what i am trying to say even though my post is not perfect as i am 16 years old and am new in writing blogs
You should continue studying the Bible. A good place to start is the book of Luke. There are many similarities to Islam, but Christianity also has many differences. Jesus came to earth to die on the cross, then God raised Him from the dead to pay off your sin debt. If you repent of your sins and put your faith in Jesus Christ you will be forgiven.
“For God so loved the world that He gave his only son, that whosoever believes on Him should not perish but have everlasting life” John 3:16.
Would you like to pay off your sin debt? We all sin, but paying off our sin debt to God is much more difficult, isn’t it? So my question to you is, “Have you paid off your sin debt?”
Unless I missed it I don’t see a 10 prayers for mothers or brothers list. My dad passed away in 2004, I would like to put a list for mother’s and brother’s lists, to match all the others I got from you, in my prayer journal. Thank you. I enjoy using my Prayer in every city journal.
Janet, thank you for downloading my prayer journal. I have a 10 Prayers for Mother’s, which I guess has never been posted. I have never written a list for brothers or sisters. I recommend praying some of the verses from either the son list or father/husband list for your brother. It all depends on his age. I will try to write a post for mothers before Mother’s Day.
