If God Promised Peace on Earth, Where is the Peace?
“Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!” Luke 2:14 (NKJV).
If Christ came to bring peace on earth, then why is the world in turmoil?
The peace that Christ brought to earth was an internal peace, a peace with God. After Adam and Eve sinned, man no longer was able to speak to God face to face. Man needed a mediator, called the High Priest in the Old Testament, in order to have a relationship with God. After Christ died on the cross and rose again, that separation between God and man was gone. We are now able to have peace with God. We no longer need an earthly mediator, because Christ became our mediator.
No matter what kind of turmoil is going on in the world, you can have total peace within your heart. According to the Bible, peace is a gift from God.
“For He Himself (Jesus) is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation, having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace, and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity. And He came and preached peace to you who were afar off and to those who were near. For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father” Ephesians 2:14-18 (NKJV).
In the Bible we are commanded to have peace with one another.
“For everyone will be seasoned with fire, and every sacrifice will be seasoned with salt. Salt is good, but if the salt loses its flavor, how will you season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace with one another” Mark 9:49-50 (NKJV).
“Therefore let us pursue the things which make for peace and the things by which one may edify another” Romans 14:19 (NKJV).

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord” Colossians 3:15-16 (NKJV).
Jesus did not promise world peace at His first coming, but peace would be in knowing Him.
“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world” John 16:33 (NKJV).
